    Summer ’09 deadline 15th June

The Summer ‘09 issue of Yuck ‘n Yum will be launched mid July.

The deadline for submissions for this issue is Monday the 15th of June.

You can submit work for consideration to: submissions@yucknyum.org

The idea of distribution behind Yuck ‘n Yum is that it can be viewed online and/or printed off on the viewer’s home printer. As a result, the printed image must be black and white, and high contrast images work best due to differing print qualities. You can submit one piece for both methods, or you might prefer to produce something for the online version that differs slightly from the printed version or complements or references it – something which takes advantage of the media it is presented in, such as an audio project, a short video piece, or animation, for example. It’s totally up to you.

Unfortunately, our funds cover web expenses and the production of sample copies available at the launch and sent out to various galleries etc., so we cannot afford to pay you.

    YNY in AN magazine

It has been a busy wee month for Yuck n’ Yum; the forum has been revamped, YNY attended a critical review session, the Spring issue was launched and our very own commander in chief Andrew MacLean has been featured in the AN- magazine degree show issue – out now –  He discussed his past and present work as well as Yuck n’ Yum’s commitment to distributing art at a grassroots level.  Go Andy!!!!

    WORD OF MOUTH CAFE

Yuck n Yum was at the Word of Mouth Cafe, Edinburgh, last night with other zine hipsters Bareface for this month’s Critical Review.

The evening was a great success where topics such as online print distribution, global exchange vrs local presence and funding were discussed.  Thanks to everyone who came along!! To view more pics of the evening CLICK HERE.
